Placeit provides a browser template library
Placeit’s official terms describe a web platform where users combine uploaded content with customizable templates owned or licensed by Placeit. Its subscription includes mockups plus other creative assets such as design templates, videos, and logos.
This makes Placeit convenient when you want to select a ready-made scene and produce an individual download without preparing a PSD workflow.
Photoshop automation uses your PSD templates
Mockups Generator works with compatible smartobject PSDs on your computer. You control the template file, layer effects, masks, warps, lighting, output resolution, naming, and editable PSD result. That control also means you must own or license suitable PSD templates and maintain them.
Compare one-off convenience with repeatable production
Placeit is a strong fit when speed of template selection and browser access matter more than PSD control. Photoshop automation is a stronger fit when the same approved PSD system must produce many designs, formats, personalized rows, or catalog outputs.
Neither model is universally superior. The best choice depends on whether your workflow begins with a service’s library or with your own Photoshop production assets.
Consider file handling and operational setup
Placeit requires content uploads to its web service and publishes upload requirements. Mockups Generator processes PSD and artwork files locally, but requires a compatible Photoshop installation and initial template setup. Evaluate those tradeoffs against your privacy, collaboration, and production needs.
